Sri Lankan leftist president Anura Kumara Dissanayaka was sworn in on Monday at a ceremony in Colombo, a state television broadcast showed.

Dissanayaka, 55, the leader of a once-marginal Marxist party, beat 38 other candidates in Saturday's presidential election in a landslide fuelled by public anger over the nation's unprecedented economic crisis in 2022.
