"Candle of Memory" was organized by the Russian House in Dhaka today

The Russian House in Dhaka organized a commemorative event dedicated to the 83 anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.

 "Candle of Memory" was organized by the Russian House in Dhaka today in cooperation with the Liberation War Academy Trust and with the participation of freedom fighter representatives from various districts of Bangladesh and NGO workers to honor the 27 million Soviet people who died in this terrible war. 

The program began with a minute's silence to pay tribute to their memory, followed by the lighting of memorial candles and wreath laying in memory of the soldiers who gave their lives in the war.

Director of the Russian House in Dhaka, Mr. Pavel Dvoychenkov, mentioned in his speech the decisive role of the Soviet Union in the victory over fascism and told what a high price the USSR had to pay in the Great Patriotic War. He gratefully thanked the freedom fighters of Bangladesh for participating in the event.

Different speakers noted the decisive role of the Soviet people in the victory over fascism. They evoked huge human losses in the Soviet Union, which defended the right to a peaceful future for all people on earth.
