The role of the news media is very important in Bangladesh: Russia

Pavel Dvoychenkov, director of the Russian House in Dhaka said, the role of the news media is very important in Bangladesh. On Wednesday, (September 26, 2023), the Russian House in Dhaka organized an annual press conference to mark the International Journalist Solidarity Day. Pavel Dvoychenkov said it at that press conference.

The activities of the Russian House in Dhaka were widely discussed at this event. Pavel Dvoychenkov, director of the Russian House in Dhaka, gave a keynote speech at the event.

Pavel Dvoychenkov in his speech mentioned that the role of the news media in daily public life is very important and journalists in Bangladesh are trying their best to fulfill their professional responsibilities. Apart from print media in Bangladesh, online journalism is now very popular and active and TV channels in Bangladesh are now modern and reliable media like those in developed countries around the world.

Director of the Russian House in Dhaka while providing updates on higher education opportunities in Russia, Russian government scholarships for Bangladeshi students for the academic year 2024-2025 and international events of the Russian government in 2023 and 2024 with the Russian House said that every year the Russian government provides several scholarships for Bangladeshi students and conducts all kinds of support activities, including promotion through Russian House in Dhaka. In the last academic year (2023-2024) the total number of scholarships for Bangladeshi students was 110. In continuation of this, the number of scholarships for Bangladeshi students has increased in the 2024–2025 academic year as well, which will continue to increase gradually, he said. The scholarship application process has already started for the next academic year, scheduled from September 1 to October 31, 2023.

Apart from higher education in Russia, Russian House in Dhaka is also implementing the New Generation Program, a short-term study tour to Russia for youth delegates from Bangladesh. This year also, the Russian House in Dhaka has initiated activities for the participation of Bangladeshi delegates in the New Generation Program, which is soon to be implemented, besides inviting young Bangladeshi friends through the Russian House to participate in the World Youth Festival-2024, which will be held in Sochi at the beginning of March next year, where 20,000 Russian and foreign young leaders aged 18 to 35 professionals from business, media, education, science, international cooperation, culture, volunteerism, sports and other areas of social life will gather at the festival.

The meeting was attended by many journalists and media representatives from television channels, including prominent local electronic, print and online media in Bangladesh. They also asked various important questions related to the activities of the Russian House in Dhaka. The director of the Russian House answered all their questions sincerely and thanked everyone with gratitude.
