Bangladesh's Ambassador to the United States Asad Alam Siam will attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on January 20.
This information was disclosed by foreign ministry’s Spokesperson and Director General of the Public Diplomacy Wing Mohammad Rafiqul Alam at the ministry's weekly briefing this afternoon.
Alam said that Ambassador Siam has been invited to participate in the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Donald Trump.
When asked whether any interim government officials has been invited to Trump’s inauguration, Alam clarified that it is customary for foreign mission chiefs stationed in the United States to receive invitations to the inauguration ceremony of the US president.
“This tradition is being upheld this year as well. The invitation letter we received explicitly states that the heads of foreign missions in the US are invited to the event,” he said.
Newly elected US President Donald Trump will be sworn in as the President of the United States on January 20 in Washington.
