Human rights violation won't be tolerated in any way: CA

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today said the violation of human rights will not be tolerated in any way in carrying out "Operation Devil Hunt".
He made the remark during a meeting with a three-member BNP delegation, led by its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, at the State Guest House Jamuna here this evening.
BNP standing committee members Salahuddin Ahmad and Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed joined the meeting. 
Briefing media about the outcomes of the meeting at Foreign Service Academy here this evening, Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said those who were involved in unjust and repression and against those have specific allegations of crimes are bringing under the "Operation Devil Hunt" and to justice. 
"We are seriously monitoring it. We do not want any violation of human rights and it will not happen," he said.
The press secretary said the BNP leaders focused on establishing peace and stability in the country, withdrawal of fake cases filed against BNP men during fascist regime and ensuring that there is no violation of human rights during the ongoing "Operation Devil Hunt".
He said the BNP leaders also sought early national polls while the chief adviser said the National Consensus Commission will work on it, reiterating the two possible dates of elations the chief adviser mentioned earlier - within December 2024 or June 2025.
Alam said the BNP leaders expressed their support for the reform initiatives of the interim government, saying: "we remain beside you".
 
Replying to a question, he said the interim government is highly concerned over the security of the country's people and it is committed to ensuring the security of every citizen.
He said the government has instructed the law enforcing agencies so that no incident of human rights violation takes place in the country. 
Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Apurba Jahangir and Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi were present at the press briefing.
