5.0 magnitude earthquake jolts capital, north-east part of Sylhet

A moderate category earthquake jolted different parts of the country including Dhaka and north-east part of Sylhet this morning.
The epicenter of the earthquake was neighboring Myanmar, said the meteorological Department here today.
The earthquake, measuring 5.0 magnitude on the Richter scale, occurred at 10.32am and the distance of the epicenter was around 482 kilometers north-east from Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD)'s seismic center in the capital, the release showed.
However, no damages or casualties were reported.
The tremor lasted a few seconds, prompting many people to leave their homes and business establishments and rush to the streets.
