Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today said a search committee will be formed soon to reconstitute the Election Commission (EC).

He made the announcement during dialogues with political parties held at State Guest House Jamuna here on Saturday.

Briefing reporters at Foreign Service Academy here this evening about the outcomes of the dialogues, Chief Adviser's Personal Assistant Mahfuj Alam said as per the rules, the search committee will be formed with six members.

The elections related issues including the preparation of voter list will be discussed later, he said, adding that in parallel, the reform commissions will continue their works.

During the dialogues, Mahfuj said the election and reform, financial crimes of Awami League and the trial of those enabled the mass killing were discussed.

He said the political leaders wanted to know what measures the government would take to ensure trial of those involved in mass killing during the July-August revolution.

The special assistant said the political parties joined the dialogue today demanded the ban of Awami League and its alliance parties.

They also discussed how the politics of the Awami League and its associates could be made limited and they expressed their views on how the last three parliaments 2014, 2018 and 2024 could be declared illegal, he said.

Mahfuj said the chief adviser assured them of the fair price of essential commodities, law and order situation and a stable situation in garments sector.

CA's Press Secretary Safiqul Alam was present at the press briefing.

Replying to a question, Mahfuj said the interim government will maintain its non-partisan and neutral stance in forming search committee and the Election Commission.

He said the government will create obstacle to the politics of those who joined the last three parliaments 2014, 2018 and 2024 by cheating the country's people, while the election activities will start, it will be clear.

Responding to another query, he said the government is observing the situation of Bangladesh Jatiya Party and 14 parties who were silently giving their support for the mass killing and in consultation with political parties, the decision will be taken whether their politics would be restricted.

CA's Press Secretary Safiqul Alam said from August 5 to 8, there is no government in the country; so many cohorts of the fascist left the country during that time. But, he said, the interim government is investigating it.

The advisers' council, led by Chief Adviser Prof Yunus, held dialogues with some political parties on continuation of its new round of political dialogue.

Gano Forum, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Jatiyatabadi Samamona Jote, 12-parties, Jatiya Mukti Council, Labour Party, Bangladesh Jatiya Party and some other political parties joined the dialogues this afternoon.
