Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal today said that the Election Commission (EC) will hold appeal hearing on candidate's nomination paper submission from December 10 to December 15.

"We have seen that officials concerned are receiving appeals nicely. These appeals will be submitted to appeal hearing. The hearing will be held from December 10 to 15. The whole commission will listen to the appeals for taking decisions," he said.

The CEC said these while talking to the journalists after visiting 10 temporary booths prepared for filing, hearing and settling appeals on the occasion of the 12th parliamentary elections slated to be held on January 7, 2024.

He said 10 regions have been fixed for filing appeals and appeals will be disposed of according to those regions.

In the presence of the entire commission, the appeals filed will be settled and decided on appeal hearing, he said.

Those, who are aggrieved after nomination submission, can appeal, Awal said, adding that EC's Returning Officers scrutinize and accept nomination papers where some are rejected.

Appeals can be made against both those who are rejected and whose nomination papers are accepted, CEC said.

He said there is a specific period for appeal and anyone can appeal from December 5 to December 9.
